Myself (Declan) and my brother Éanna, had the idea a while ago - too long actually - to build a tour guide application together. But not just boring standard tours, and not just a boring static app. This was going to be something fun and dynamic, with the ability for others to update content and add their experiences. After-all, we are just developers, and we believe everyone has some interesting information about their surroundings that deserve to be shared.
So we set upon the task of building this. I could go on about geeky web stuff, servers and protocols, but basically there is a website, and there is an app. And we've built the website...and the app is very much on its way.
Our website has an easy to use front-end overlaying google maps with the markers for areas of interest and routes for interesting tours. All the magic is taken care of in our system, so tours and attractions can be added and removed as easy as you can imagine. It's really as simple as that.
